Medium: Oil Paint
Description: The micro turns macro as we zoom the lens in on the intricate details of the delicate wing of a moth. The Artist creates rich texture by layering color and shape in rich chocolate brown, camel, and cobalt blue.
This piece evokes a sense of calm like listening to the tide roll on a stone terrace that overlooks the ocean, by moonlight.
Moth Wing #2 is part of a collection of works by self-taught artist Bridget Kilgallon. Through her art, she attempts to communicate how we transmute times of trauma and loss into creative expression. Her works explore the polarity between beauty and darkness through the use of multi-media techniques that reach beyond the canvas. An uncomplicated motif, the butterfly integrates deep meaning with sublime references to the subconscious intuition and ancient symbolism.
