Description: The micro turns macro as we zoom the lens in on the interior of a Blue Morpho butterfly wing, as seen through a tropical neon lens. The Artist creates rich texture by layering color and shape in rich teal, ochre, and blood orange set over a rhythmic green backdrop.
Native to Belize, this Blue Morpho radiates a tropical energy akin to the warmth of the Central American sun.
Blue Morpho Tropico is part of a collection of works by self-taught artist Bridget Kilgallon. Through her art, she attempts to communicate how we transmute times of trauma and loss into creative expression. Her works explore the polarity between beauty and darkness through the use of multi-media techniques that reach beyond the canvas. An uncomplicated motif, the butterfly integrates deep meaning with sublime references to the subconscious intuition and ancient symbolism.
